muehle.jpgThe Bakery „Mühlenbäckerei Clauss“ has a long history. The bakery was founded in 1894 by Ludwig Hermann Clauss in the mill, which has been built  during the 13th and 14th Century. By then it changed hands several times.

Since October 1894 the mill has been  called "Clauß-Mühle".
Those days the sale of baked goods began in the hall of the mill.

On August 12th in 1926 the mill has been assigned to son Horst Leo Clauss. In 1936 one mill wheel  got damaged, so  there is only one water wheel left.

In 1949 Heinz Clauss successfully passed the master's certificate of the Miller-Crafts, in 1952 follows the title of master craftsman of bakery.
The flood in 1954 almost disrupts the mill and bakery business.
In 1971 Horst Leo Clauss assigns the mill property including the inventory to Heinz Clauss.

Manfred Clauss, the current owner, successfully passed the master's certificate of bakery crafts on November 28th in 1974. Due to  the extension of the bakery in 1978, the grinding of grain has been ceased but until 1978 grain still got bruised.
In 1981, the last still functioning water wheel has been  taken out of service. The dismounting of the machine has been affected in 1983, due to the absence of financial means to obtain a technical memorial.

Manfred Clauss took over the bakery business from his father in 1985 and became the owner of the mill property in 1986.
The sawmill is operating until 1989 .
The cutting mill is still functional and is put under monument protection.
On August 1st 1991 it opened a new shop in the mill, in addition to that branches opened amongst others in Thurm and Glauchau.
In 1994 the "Clauss-Mühle" had its 100-year anniversary. To date, the number of stores and shops   have grown up to twelve.
